Do you sell my data?
No — never, to anyone. There's no ad business and no data business here. You pay a few dollars once, and that's the whole model. We don't run analytics or trackers, and the only personal thing we hold is your email address, if you have an account — kept so you can find your trips again, and for nothing else. No name, no profile, nothing a data broker would want. See the privacy page for the full list of what we store and who we work with.
Who can see my trip?
Only people you send a link to. Every trip lives at its own random web address that's effectively impossible to guess, and it's split into an edit link (for your crew) and a view link (for everyone else). No link, no access.
What if I lose my link or password?
Right now, the link is the key, and we store passwords only as one-way hashes — which means we genuinely can't recover them for you. So save your links somewhere safe. As long as one person on the trip still has the edit link, they can rotate a fresh one for everyone. (An email-based "resend my link" option is on our list.)
Is my payment secure?
Yes. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe, one of the most trusted names in online payments. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never touch our servers — we only learn that a payment succeeded.
Can I get a refund?
If something's wrong, email support@thistripbtw.us and we'll make it right. Trips are inexpensive and one-time, so we'd rather have a happy traveler than an unhappy few dollars.
Do I need an account or an app?
There's nothing to install — it's a normal web page. Open the link in any phone or computer browser and you're in. Grandma-tested.
Not to build one, and not to open one. Building a trip needs no account, no card, and no email, and anyone you share a trip with needs nothing at all — the link is the key.
After you buy, you can optionally set a password and we'll remember which trips are yours, so you can list them from any device at your trips. Skip it and nothing changes; the links still work. Note that opening a trip still asks for its phrase — we never stored those, so an account remembers which trips are yours, not how to get into them.
So what do you actually store about me?
If you never make an account: nothing that names you at all. On the trip we keep which tier was bought and Stripe's checkout reference.
If you do make one: your email, your password scrambled one way so nobody can read it back, and the list of which trips are yours. No name, no profile, no history of what you did, no tracking. That list is readable by us — which means we can help when you lose a link, and it also means a database breach would show which trips belong to which email. We think that's the right trade and we'd rather say so than bury it. The full picture is on the privacy page.
Does it work outside the U.S.?
Yes — it's just a web page and a world map, so it works anywhere you have a connection. The maps and place search cover the whole globe.
How many people can join a trip?
As many as you like. Anyone with the link is in — there's no seat limit and no per-person charge.
What happens to my trip later?
Every trip has an end date, and you pick how far away it is: one year on $2.50, five on $5, ten on $10. When it arrives the trip deletes itself, which is also a privacy feature — data we don't keep can't leak. You can delete any trip yourself sooner, anytime, from Info → Trip settings.
We stopped selling "permanent" deliberately. A one-person shop promising to host something forever for a single payment is making a promise it cannot check, and we would rather give you a date we can actually keep. Trips bought while it said permanent stay permanent.
Did my assistant send me here? Can it build the trip for me?
Yes — and that is deliberate. An AI assistant cannot sign up for an account or type in a card, so nearly every travel tool is out of reach for one. This is not. Your assistant can build the whole trip and hand you a link; open it and the trip is already drawn on the map, free, and yours to change.
Nothing reaches us in the process. The trip travels inside the link itself — in the part
after the #, which browsers never send to a server — so we do not see it,
log it, or know it exists until you decide to keep it.

What is “Describe”, and does it read my trip?
Describe is an optional assistant that adds legs for you — type “drive from Denver to Moab on the 4th” and it does it. It runs on Anthropic’s Claude, so when you use it, what you type plus the stops and dates already on the trip are sent there to answer. Your trip is not used to train anyone’s model, we don’t keep the conversation, and if you never open Ask nothing is ever sent. Give it a flight number and it also checks that flight’s scheduled times with AeroDataBox, which sees the flight number and date and nothing else. The full list is on privacy.
